Description
In this lesson, one of a multi-part unit from ReadWriteThink, students learn the importance of finding the words in sentences and paragraphs that contain the facts they need for compiling research for a state symbols project. The students then put those notes into their own words, avoiding plagiarism. This lesson, and its associated unit, take advantage of children's natural curiosity--their desire to know "how" and "why." In the process of writing a written report on a state symbol, students learn about the research process and then experience it firsthand. Less
