interesting, but not exactly what I wanted for quadratics... // Kelly Nelson

This resource was interesting, but not exactly what I was looking for with applying quadratics. I demonstrated the robot arms in class, and the students were very interested. However, it was not exactly what I was looking for. It seems more appropriate for exploring area of irregular figures. Also, I took one of my classes to the computer lab, but was not able to use this resouce because our lab does not work with java script.

Description

In this student interactive, from Illuminations, students can build compound arms having multiple joints of two types: one that rotates and is typical of rotating motors, and one that slides and is typical of hydraulic lifts. A circle is used to represent a rotating joint, and a rectangle is used to represent a sliding joint.
