Description

In this National Geographic News article, read about how the U.S. Navy began using mid-frequency sonar during training exercises off Hawaii in compliance with an out-of-court settlement with Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). A temporary restraining order had previously blocked the use of high-intensity sonar during the exercises because the NRDC said it harmed whales and other marine mammals.
