In this Webcast, from the Library of Congress, journalist Jay Feldman discusses and reads from his book, "When the Mississippi Ran Backwards: Empire, Intrigue, Murder and the New Madrid Earthquakes." Feldman describes the catastrophic series of earthquakes that shook the Mississippi Valley in 1811 and 1812 and the resulting social, political and military upheavals. This resource can be used for content-area reading and interdisciplinary projects.
