This project fully involved 100% of the 52 teachers in the two elementary schools in Gridley Unified. The purpose of the Science and Academic Literacy project was to design professional development experiences which would be relevant to teachers and their students and promote using science as the vehicle for English language development. The ultimate goal of the project was to reduce the achievement gap in test scores between English language learners and English proficient students.
