Description

This page, from the EDSITEment-reviewed Arctic Studies Center, is an exhibition combining modern research in North Pacific anthropology and archaeology with the presentation of many important objects from early collections. The original exhibit traveled through the United States and Russia and has been recreated in a "virtual" architectural space. Visitors can wander through the exhibit as in a real museum, viewing exhibits on four groups: Chinese-influenced cultures of the Amur River region; the Even, reindeer herders living west of the Sea of Okhotsk; the Koryak of Kamchatka; and the Chukchi, who were reindeer breeders.
