Description

This lesson plan from Math Central, reviewed for grades PreK-2 by Illuminations, has students collect various objects (pebbles, leaves, pinecones, rocks, feathers, grass, seeds, etc.) and sort and classify them back in the classroom. Students then compare the numbers of each group and re-classify them according to a different sorting criterion. Extensions to the activity are included within the unit plan. Read the full review on the Illuminations site, where you can access this resource directly.
