Description

This page, from the EDSITEment-reviewed Arctic Studies Center, is an amazing exhibit of Southwestern Alaskan culture and art. Developed jointly by a team of native Yup'ik people and researchers, this was the first exhibit to bring Yup'ik masks and ceremonial materials to a wide audience in their native context. This is one of the slides taken from the exhibit, showing an image of a caribou ornament and describing its function and ceremonial significance.
