Description
In this lesson plan, from the PBS "American Masters" Web site, students apply the Guided Reading approach to Gore Vidal's writing and then determine how political writing can shape our understanding of history. As a culminating activity, students debate Vidal's claim that America "wanted to be like Greece and ended up like Rome." This page includes links to additional lesson plans, as well as a link to an index of individual informational pages. Each page features an individual American Master and includes biographical information, a list of major works, a career timeline, interviews, and links to related Internet resources. Less
