Description

This page, from American Memory at the Library of Congress, focuses on significant events in American history and culture associated with May 3. On this day in 1913, playwright William M. Inge was born in Independence, Kansas. Photographer Gordon Parks was a contemporary of William Inge. Born in Kansas less than six months prior to Inge (on November 30, 1912), Parks too pursued a career in the arts.
