Description

This resource, from the Chickscope Web site, reviewed for grades 9-12 by Illuminations, is an activity in which students are asked how to evenly divide an egg. Using a Java-enabled browser, students explore several symmetrical and asymmetrical regions to discover how an egg can be divided so that each half has exactly the same amount of yolk and white. A discussion of the general theorem from topology on which this surprising result is based is also included. Read the full review on the Illuminations site, where you can access this resource directly.
