Description
This problem-based learning activity from the Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction, reviewed for grades 6-8 by Illuminations, centers around the question, "What should your annual salary be to afford the car you want?" Students use information concerning debt to income ratio, car costs, loan payments, etc. that they retrieve from the Web. Students must take into account all of the factors of buying a new car, such as the type of options they would like, the budget they're on, and how much of a down payment to make. They must see what it takes to qualify for a loan and think about maintenance costs for their vehicle. Read the full review on the Illuminations site, where you can access this resource directly.
