Description

This resource, created by Cynthia Lanius, reviewed for grades 6-8 by Illuminations, introduces students to the idea of exponential growth using a whimsical example. Students are offered a job and can choose to be paid either $1 million up front, or to accept a penny the first day, 2 pennies the second day, and so on, for a month. Students are walked through a series of calculations and learn why the second option is a better choice. Read the full review on the Illuminations site, where you can access this resource directly.
