This resource from Cynthia Lanius, reviewed for grades 3-5 by Illuminations, is a lesson using a calendar to demonstrate a simple mathematics trick. A volunteer selects 4 dates forming a square on the calendar and adds up the sum of the dates. With only the sum of these numbers, the four dates can be calculated using a simple linear equation.
