Laminate Countertop

Description
This lesson will provide students the opportunity to create
their own laminate countertop for a dresser, night stand, or
desktop, whatever their choice may be. I will show you two
different edges that can be done using laminate as the primary
coverage for the top. This lesson is designed for all students to
make the same size top, thus providing a section needed for
covering the curriculum under cabinetmaking.
I have found that many local cabinet shops are more than happy
to donate their waste or cut-off laminate to whomever will take it
off their hands. That means the expensive part of the project is
already taken care of. Other materials are easy to come by, and the
technique is fairly quick and simple depending on the size of the
top. One sheet of particle board is enough to give instruction for
32 students.
