In order for a full animation production to be created and
developed, animators must first produce what is known in the
industry as an animatic.  An animatic is simply, the filmed
sequence of the preliminary storyboard, aligned with the finished
and cleaned up audio production. The animatic production allows
animators to know exactly how long each scene or sequence will be,
as audio defines timing in animation. A finished audio production
at this stage is crucial as audio is half of the production, and
provides the backbone to the film. The production of the animatic
can be used for pitching ideas, presentations, and for initial
critiquing of story and character concepts. This lesson will cover
the essentials of assembling an animatic and will presume that a
script and preliminary storyboard will have been developed in
