This two part lesson is designed to utilize the sheet metal
fabrication skills that students have previously been taught in the
areas of safety and basic sheet metal layout and fabrication. It is
built upon a foundation of student knowledge through text
assignments and hands-on activities in the areas of safety,
drafting, hand tools, layout, cutting and bending. The lesson will
also involve problem solving skills, measurement and math.

In the end, the student will produce a sheet metal box and
cover made from a specified size of 26 gauge galvanized sheet
metal. In part 1, the first hour will involve getting direct
instruction from me on procedures and requirements, as well as
producing the initial project plans. The second hour will be used
to produce the box from their plans. In Part 2, the first and
second hours will be used to solve the problem for producing a
cover that will fit the box using the amount of sheet metal that
was left over from the original sheet that the student was given.
