Description

In this activity, students select the probability that a fire will spread from one tree to another in a simulated forest fire. After the forest has burned, students use estimation to guess either the number, percent, or fraction of trees burned in the fire. This activity allows students to practice estimating amounts, fractions, and percents. This activity includes supplemental materials, including background information about the topics covered, a description of how to use the application, and exploration questions for use with the java applet.
