In these three word problems, students are asked to explore real-world applications of measuring area and perimeter to design a rabbit run, figure the original size of a folded paper, and compare the cost of carpeting two rooms. Working from simple to more difficult, these problems help students understand the practical applications of their math skills as well as develop their consumer savvy.
