Description

In this activity, students are introduced to measurement by outlining their feet on construction paper, cutting out the outline, and measuring their height using the foot. Students also estimate how many "feet" tall they think they are before measuring, and begin to see relationships between measurements by lining up as a class, tallest to shortest, and investigating this against their individual foot measurements, and as measured by traditional inches. Students may also read "How Big is a Foot?" by Rolf Myller as an introduction to the activity. Less
