Description

This site, reviewed for grades Pre-K-2 by Illuminations, has something for everybody. It is divided into four main sections: Student Center, Teachers' Place, Research Division, and Parents & Citizens. In the Student Center there are weekly challenges, a section where students can get help on homework by asking Dr Math, and other activities that encourage students to use the Internet in a productive way. In the Teachers' Place there are a collection of lesson plans, various Internet activities and projects, and discussion forums that provide many resources for communication with other teachers and links to professional organizations. A highlight of the site is the various "Problem of the Week" features that are widely used by classroom teachers. Also of note is a section of the site devoted to mathematics software. The Research Division is primarily for mathematicians looking for research information, software, job opportunities, and a place to talk to other mathematicians. The Parents & Citizens section provides good resources for parents to encourage and help their students.
