Description

This lesson plan from National Geographic was created as a resource for Geography Action 2001, which is based on the theme of rivers. In this lesson, students will define and locate a watershed; explore how people and wildlife are connected to the Amazon River through the Amazon Basin; and agree on strategies to ensure the sustainable use of the river. The site also includes links to related National Geographic Web pages, teacher resources, US National Geography Standards, discussion questions, and extension activities. Join the National Geographic Society in protecting our greatest resource-the Earth-by "taking action" with hands-on conservation activities. Geography Action! starts each spring, and culminates during Geography Awareness Week, in November. Less
