Description

This lesson plan from National Geographic was created as a resource for Geography Action 2001, which is based on the theme of rivers. In this lesson, students will understand that rivers can be polluted in several ways, some of which are difficult to see; and that students' actions can make a difference in the water quality of rivers. The site also includes links to related National Geographic Web pages, teacher resources, US National Geography Standards, discussion questions, and extension activities. Join the National Geographic Society in protecting our greatest resource-the Earth-by "taking action" with hands-on conservation activities. Geography Action! starts each spring, and culminates during Geography Awareness Week, in November. Less
