Description

This online version of the traditional pattern block consists of a panel where you can drag in four different types of shapes of nicely fitting sizes -- pattern blocks or manipulatives. Once inside the panel you can rotate them and move them. This program can be used to familiarize oneself with the different shapes, their relations, and their proportions, but the real purpose behind the program is to use it as a tool to learn and practice fractions. The program was developed to complement Cynthia Lanius' "No Matter What Shape Your Fractions Are In" Web site. This site is featured in the Science NetLinks lesson "Shape Hunt." Less
