Description
This lesson is provided by the Institute for Advanced Technology in the Humanities. Students conduct research into the life of Daniel Downey, then choose from two essay choices. They may either write Downey's memoirs as he would have written them, or write about what Downey's life suggests about crime, ethnicity, religion, and/or the ante-bellum and the Reconstruction periods of nineteenth-century America.
