Description
In this activity, from the National Archives and Records Administration, students become aware of symbols by studying political cartoons. Students are first given symbols they know and are familiar with. They are asked to consider all the meanings various symbols might have, and then they decide together the actual meaning of each symbol. The students then show their knowledge through a group project in which they develop their own cartoons.
