This resource, from the Library of Congress, gives a brief biographical description of the Civil War photographer Mathew B. Brady, including his efforts to demonstrate that photographs could be more than posed portraits. Brady chronicled the U.S. Civil War, and for many Americans, brought the horrors of war home to them.
