Description
This is a plan of the Wasington when it was first intended for the seat of government of the United States, for 'establishing the permanent seat on the bank of the Potowmac'; it is found on the American Memory Project's Map Collection website. The Cities and Towns section includes maps that depict individual buildings to panoramic views of large urban areas. These maps record the evolution of cities illustrating the development and nature of economic activities, educational and religious facilities, parks, street patterns and widths, and transportation systems. These images were created from maps and atlases and, in general, are restricted to items that are not covered by copyright protection. The map can be downloaded for use in the classroom. Less
