Description

Reviewed for grades 6-8 by Illuminations, this Math Forum activity has a lesson plan to go with it. The students are able to work in groups and use manipulatives to find a solution to the problem. They must record their findings and answer questions, given by the teacher, about their way of solving the problem. This activity allows students to use a variety of ways to solve the problem. They gain an understanding of the importance of being able to explain their reasoning and are able to communicate mathematically to others.
