Description

This site from Math Forum is a collection of lesson plans, FAQs and software could be a useful resource for elementary school teachers. While many of the activities are related to ideas beyond the early grades (such as computation), quite a few will be useful for teachers of Pre-K-2. For example, in the activity Orange Slices, young students can look at the number of slices in an orange to investigate fractional parts. In the link Hershey Fractions, students divide chocolate bars into fractional parts. There is also a comprehensive set of reference materials on mathematics that teachers might find useful. A teacher exercising some care will find much in this site that they can use to enhance their teaching of fractions. Less
