This resource was matched by a member of the Brokers of Expertise standards matching team.

Probability alone is not a Geometry standard, however we do see geometric probability in textbooks and they address standards 8.0 and 16.0 (construct angles).

Description

This lesson, from the Shodor Education Foundation, Inc., connects probability and geometry. Students learn about platonic solids and connections between angles, areas, and probability. The subtle difference between defining probability by counting outcomes and defining probability by measuring proportions of geometrical characteristics is also brought to light.
