Description
In this online exhibition from the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, students will explore why Americans came to value the convenience of the car, and how cars became a significant part of everyday life. In response to the changes that "auto mobility" brought, the nation developed an elaborate system of laws, commerce, and customs and a slew of businesses including gas stations, tire shops, garages-sprang up to supply drivers' needs.
