Description

In this student interactive from EDSITEment, students construct the pontoon bridge Xerxes built over the Hellespont, according to the Greek historian Herodotus' description. One of the greatest engineering feats of ancient times, the structure actually consisted of two bridges across the Hellespont, the waterway between Asia Minor (modern Turkey) and Greece.
