This rubric, from a ReadWriteThink lesson, helps teachers evaluate essays in which students summarize and explain Jonathan Swift's commentary and/or criticism of the British government in his satirical novel "Gulliver's Travels." Teacher's can assess students' analysis of Swift's satirical techniques, sentence structure and documentation of facts, as well as grammar, spelling and mechanics.
