Description
In this classroom activity, students learn about the scientific method and how environment affects the preservation of organic materials. Students create five identical "archaeological sites" and place them in different environments: frozen, dry, humid, underwater, wet clay. Over the course of a month, students observe their sites weekly to see how the organic material in each (fruit) changes. Students then compare their original hypotheses with the final results and write up their conclusions.
