Description
The Just-in-Time Teaching (JITT) program provides a teaching and learning strategy based on the interaction between web-based study assignments and an active learner classroom. The strategy, designed to increase the amount of personal contact between students and teachers, involves the use of web-based assignments that are due shortly before class. The instructor reads student submissions close to the start of class and adjusts the classroom lesson to suit students' needs. Materials on the program's website include a description of the concept, its appeal to nontraditional students, and the use of feedback from students' outside preparation to affect what happens during class time. A sampler of JITT resources for biology, physics, and math is provided, as well as information on educators who have adopted the strategy, program reviews and citations, and information on workshops and presentations.
