Found poem is a strategy that can work with any text, including expository text. Try this: Students identify key words and phrases, select images to go with each, and create a Photo Story or enhanced podcast with key vocabulary in a way that supports the key concept.

Description
In this ReadWriteThink lesson, students "mine" texts for favorite words from favorite stories. Working together, students select words and phrases to create a collective class poem that they then turn into a performance. This lesson helps students recast the text they are reading in a different genre, which in turn makes students more insightful readers and helps develop creativity in thinking and writing. Several pieces of literature appropriate for use with this lesson are suggested.
