Description
This activity is about the vitamins and minerals that children need, and the fruits and vegetables that provide them. Learners read descriptions and a table of recommended daily vitamin and mineral requirements for 9- to 13-year-old children, then match the vitamins and minerals up with health benefits they provide. The table provides percentages of vitamins and minerals provided for every serving of raw fruits or vegetables, given in grams. Math extensions might include asking questions like, "How many grams of spinach would be needed to provide a full day of vitamin B6?"
