Description

This game is a variation of the old Chinese game Nim. In this version, available for either online or offline play, two people take turns cutting one or two ropes on a hot air balloon. Whoever cuts the last rope wins a free ride on the balloon. The activity develops intuitive understanding of subtraction, or "take-away." Developing a winning strategy helps build number sense. This game can be played using toothpicks on a printout, or with the Flash online version that allows solo play against the computer. The number of ropes is variable both online and offline, but additional variations are provided for offline play. A spanish translation is in a printed book, but not yet available online. Less
