This article discusses actions of the tribal government and community response related to plans to develop Desert Rock, a 1,500-megawatt coal-fired power plant, on 600 acres of tribal land in San Juan County. The article discusses some of the environmental and health implications of toxic emissions from the new plant and why Navajos are voting in opposition to its construction.
