Description
The Rothschild Petersen Patent Model Museum is the largest privately-owned collection of U.S. patent models in the world. The museum's web site includes a database of over 700 models that is searchable by item name, patent number, inventor, city, and state. It also features a brief overview of the organization, a history of patent models (from 1790 to 1880, all patent applications were required to be accompanied by a working model of the invention, no more than 12 inches square), links to articles about patent models, and information about on-loan exhibits.
