Description

This collection features thousands of library items and images documenting the lives and work of Wilbur and Orville Wright, in particular their work that led to the world's first powered, controlled, and sustained flight. The collection includes the brothers' correspondence, diaries and notebooks, scrapbooks, drawings, printed matter, and other documents, as well as images made from their collection of glass-plate photographic negatives. The brothers' letters to aviation pioneer and mentor Octave Chanute, from the Octave Chanute Papers, are also included. The Wright Papers span the years 1881 to 1952 but the greatest focus is on the period 1900 to 1940. The collection is searchable by keyword or browseable by series (diaries and notebooks, family papers, prints and photographs, and other categories). Less
