In this activity, children use different-sized paper 'caterpillars' and various household items to predict and measure their height. This activity provides a foundation for nonstandard measurement and helps improve estimation skills. The bilingual instruction guide is written in parent/educator friendly language with simple instructions and questions to ask the child. It is one of six in the Para Los Ninos Math at Home activity packet. The activity may be extended by reading the book, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. Less
