May 13 agenda // Micheline LeBlanc
1) Share last's week conversation: Rose Ann and Denise talked about asking students to rate a tool and perhaps do some searching for a math tool using a rubric created by Denise. 2) Discuss the BoE recent email: (1) asked about the email from Teri and all are clear on what they have to do by the end of the year ; (2) Talked about Lure of the Labyrinth and perhaps using it before the end of the school year (3) talked about using Google scholar to help with research on the home work issue; and other related education topics 3) Next steps: (1) Micheline presented the idea of getting all the math teachers and navigators to join in discussions. She will contact the other navigators and invite the teachers next week. (2) the topic will change every 1 1/2 weeks (3) three topics include : homework, algebra in middle school and strategies for ELL students. - Apr 28 2009 11:41 AM

Agenfa for April 22 Skype meeting // Micheline LeBlanc
1) New BoE features (a) uploading seems easier than before (b) watch - Micheline explained what it means and how it works 2) What have teachers used since our last meeting - graphic organizers, Interactivate; solving equations 3) any found treasures you want to share - already uploaded 4) problems not yet reported or not resolved - Is there a way to make sure a resource has already been added. If there is a resource already in the system, thern the system should send a message indicating that the resource is already posted. 5) Google doc updates - Helen will use it 6) Needs -to have shared resources directly to the person instead of the group 7) next meeting date and time: May 6 at 7:30 (may be a problem for MLB) 8. How to build community - (a) finding the time to collaborate is difficult. If there had been a topic that the users were interested in, then they could visit the site for that topic. (b) For one teacher, she needs items to "pop out at me" - so having new features and featured tools or resources would attract her. (c) One teacher follows a podcast called Women of Web. It's a group that meets in real time and brings in guess speakers. It would be cool if there were come way to make the sharing feel more personal. (d) It would be interesting to have discussion via some tool like eluminate and the save the discussion. (e) Is there a possibility for PD hours for participation? 9. Discussions - not much going on in the math discussion There are too many discussion boards to follow. - Apr 8 2009 11:48 AM
April 8 agenda and notes // Micheline LeBlanc
1) Review the Google docs • BoE Action Plan from March 14 - let it go. It will not be updated. • High Fives plan created last weekend.- Denise added items to both places, the Google Doc and the BoE site. Helen will do the same by adding a sheet to the Google doc as Helen did. 2. Should we just use the BoE site? No,the team wants to have a back-up of their work. until all the bugs are gone. 3. What have you reviewed/used? Denise has used two resources and uploaded them with comments She has added a third, but has not yet used it with students. Helen has not yet uploaded or commented, but has investigated. 4. What is working for you regarding the tools? it is difficult to find where to post, comment, make suggestions, and discuss. 5. What is working for you regarding the site? Lots of resources; easy to search by key words. Could we have a star rating like Netfix? There may be issues with that rating process, so we can use the "favorite" idea. 6. What are some issues with the site? Helen has had issues getting on to the site. Micheline showed them where the report problems Could there be a section for specific comments, such as how to use the resources, classroom management strategies, equipment needed, etc? 7.What are some issues regarding the use of technology with students? None so far 8. What are your next steps? Helen will use some of the resources and provide comments. Denise will comment on resources at the BoE site next week. 9. Should we continue with Skype calls? Yes. Next meeting in two weeks, April 22 at 7PM. - Apr 6 2009 7:21 PM
