Curriculum for Special Education // Maggie Daugherty

I teach a middle school SDC class. I attempt to use the general education curriculum as much as possible. Most publishers offer special education resources that modify the standardized curriculum and make the materials accessible for special education students for free with the implementation of their text books on campus. I am curious as to what curriculum other special education teachers use and what resources they have.

I use the text and then develop activities to role-play the concept as much as possible. I also use activity-based instruction with Hands On Heritage which is available in most teacher supply stores for 5th and 6th grade Social studies.

In addition to the Adaptive Core Curriculum, teachers are creating visual adaptations for use with the autism population, to assist with their auditory processing.
