    SPECIAL EDUCATION? // SHANE MOSLEY

    Uh-oh...

Someone forgot about us. I'd imagine someone...somewhere, will fix this mistake real quick, make this email dissappear and post a SpEd link.

I teach E.D. and have something similar started for the E.D./Behavior classroom. Great idea CA!

Definately not forgotten // Christine Hernandez

As a member working on this project, the team at Brokers of Expertise certainly haven't forgotten about educators in Special Education, Alternative Education, Regional Occupational Programs/Centers, migrant education, outdoor science education, and HeadStart/preschool.

Recently, we have asked the SPSSC committee (sub-committee of CCSESA) to help Brokers enhance the presence of these groups and resources tailored to their needs.

This site was designed to encourage administrators and educators like yourself to be active and share resources that are valuable for your peers, engage in positive peer-cultures, and develop a group or network that can collaborate ideas.

We also encourage users to submit resources that they would like to see matched to CA State standards, which is one of the most valuable tools on this site.

We welcome your feedback for further improvement of this site, please feel free to contact us using our Contact page.

I started a discussion on Special Education and RTI // LeAnn Risch

I was actually shocked to see that there was nothing for special education as well when I first logged on...we seem to lead the pack in terms of interventions and support, but are the last ones to be included...kind of ironic given the level of inclusion we practice on a daily basis.

Has there been any progress made in creating a SPED group?  I think too often, those in SPED (teachers and students) are forgotten about.

    Resource for ED/Day Treatment/At-risk // Neils Wright

First be it known, your message will self destruct if you walk away from the computer to make dinner and don't postin a timely manner.

The “School Counselor's Guideâ€ï¿½ by Mark D. Nelson (Routledge, 2011.) This resource contains the American School Counselor’s Association National Standards for the academic, career and personal social domains. There are three levels of “The Guide,â€ï¿½ elementary, middle school and high school. Each level contains a personal inventory, “indicatorâ€ï¿½ per domain, standards and activities related to them.

We use it as a lesson guide teachers edition for the clinician in the classroom. It has national standards, lesson plans, and activities to focus on social and emotional skils that will help the students develop the skills necessary to be successful in the academic/employment settings.

The students benifit from having consistent curriculum for therapy, the standards makes each lesson have a clear focus/outcome. And there is less time spent on planning and more time spent with each student.
