There are several resources and tools available to consider the question: How can I support the integration of technology into teaching and learning in my school/district? Below is a collection of resources for further exploration to support instructional leaders in their ongoing professional learning.

Curriculum Frameworks Chapters

Standards

  • California Model School Library Standards (PDF)
    Grade-level standards that address evaluation of information in text and other sources. It includes standards related to the ethical, legal, and safe use of information in print, media, and online resources for every grade level.
  • ISTE National Educational Technology Standards
    The family of International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards works in concert to support students, educators, and leaders with clear guidelines for the skills, knowledge, and approaches they need to succeed in the digital age.

California Programs

  • California Education Technology Blueprint
    The latest information about planning for education technology use in schools.
  • California K-12 High Speed Network
    The K-12 High-Speed Network provides high-speed Internet access to California schools.
  • E-rate
    The E-rate program provides discounts to schools and libraries for eligible telecommunications services.
  • K-12 Voucher Program
    Funded through a 2003 antitrust settlement agreement between Microsoft Corporation and California consumers and businesses, this program assists eligible K-12 districts with implementing and supporting education technology.
  • Technology Plans
    Provides information on developing an education technology plan.

  • CUE, Inc.
    Computer-Using Educators (CUE), Inc. is a nonprofit educational corporation with the goal to advance student achievement through technology in all disciplines from preschool through college.

Instructional Materials and Resources

  • Technology and Interactive Media as Tools in Early Childhood Programs (PDF)
    Position statement of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media at Saint Vincent College, providing guidance for young children’s use of technology.
  • Math by Design
    Produced as part of a national public television collaborative that was formed to create online resources focused on STEM subjects for middle school students and teachers, this free site focuses on helping middle grades students refine and build upon their knowledge of geometry and measurement through real-world simulations.
  • California Learning Resources Network
    Provides reviews of supplemental electronic learning resources that include software, video, and Internet resources. CLRN also reviews online courses aligned to the CCSS.
  • GeoGebra
    An interactive geometry, algebra, and calculus application, intended for teachers and students. Constructions can be made with points, vectors, segments, lines, polygons, conic sections, inequalities, implicit polynomials, and functions. All of them can be changed dynamically afterwards. Teachers and students can use the software to make conjectures and prove geometric theorems.

  • Smarter Balanced Assessments
    Latest information about the new generation of mathematics and ELA/literacy assessments.
    • Practice and Training Tests
      This link accesses the Practice and Training Tests portal. The Practice Tests provide students with grade-specific testing experiences that are similar in structure and format to the Summative Assessments. The Training Tests provide students with the opportunity to quickly become familiar with the software and interface features. The Training Tests are organized by grade bands (e.g., 3–5).

      Provides keyboard commands students and teachers can use to navigate between test elements, features, and tools.
    • Smarter Balanced Technology Readiness Resources
      Information on minimum technology requirements for online testing, link to a network bandwidth checker, and the latest Information Technology Coordinator Update.
