Introduction to Talking and Books

Talking and Books teaches adults how to use language facilitation strategies when looking at picture books with young children. The strategies are easy to learn, and very effective for promoting language development and early literacy.

In this module, you will view short video clips that model how to talk with your child while reading books. You will learn to use the following 3 strategies during "book time."

  1. Comment and Wait
  2. Ask Questions and Wait
  3. Respond by Adding a Little More
