Pre-Intern English Learner Modules
The
effective instruction of English Learners is an essential component
in any teachers’ preparation. This course develops within
pre-interns the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to make
appropriate instructional decisions for English Learners based on
current knowledge and practice. These abilities enable the
intern candidate to assist each unique learner to become competent
in the utilization of language in learning.
These modules prepare pre-interns to develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to teach in a diverse classroom setting. The Special Education pre-interns develop a conceptual framework for the learning and teaching of English Learners. These modules introduce pre-interns to the effects of prior knowledge and culture on English Learner student achievement.
