Do you know someone who exemplifies the value of caring, has high expectations for learning, who makes unselfish contributions to the after school field and deserves recognition?
Learning Support Region 2 After School Programs is now accepting nominations for the Unsung Hero Award for individuals from within the nine-county region (Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Trinity, Shasta, Lassen, Plumas, Siskiyou, and Modoc counties). The criteria are simple. Tell us about someone, in no more than 500 words, who best personifies caring and who has made a significant contribution to after school programs. This individual should be a worthy role model to be emulated by others. The following categories are available for recognition and the number of awardees per category.

• Administrator (Superintendent; Assistant Superintendent; Principal) (2)
• Program Director of After School Program (2)
• Program Specialist/Area Coordinator (2)
• Site Coordinator/Site Facilitator (4)
• Academic Liaison/Teacher (2)
• Program Leader/Tutor (4)
• Parent/Volunteer/Community Partner (4)
• School Site Support (Office Secretary, Custodian, Librarian, Food Service) (2)

There is no limit on the number of nominations. You can nominate more than one nominee for any of the above criteria areas.The Selection Committee will be reviewing each nomination by what you provide as answers to the two questions below regarding why your nominee should receive this special recognition.

Awards will be awarded at the 2012 Region 2 Professional Development Institute on August 1st the first day of our two-day regional conference followed by a Celebration Luncheon. Notification of the award will be given to the Program Director/Administration. It will be their responsibility to ensure the Nominee is invited to the Awards ceremony.
